Working in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme/GRID, this course will upskill, educate and motivate participants (age 20 - 30) to develop local solutions and engage with their local communities in making a difference.
Objectives:
• Build awareness in young Europeans of the issues of climate change
• Use German case studies of climate impacts as a focus to examine how Europe is being affecting by climate change and global interdependence.
• Understanding of the topic through several approaches (rural vs urban, local vs European etc).
• Increase youth initiative applications linking democratic processes through lobbying policy makers
• Provide support networks between young people interested in priority topic
This project is an interesting partnership between Youth in Action, the British Council and the United Nations Environment Programme. With inputs coming directly from UNEP, participants will have a unique chance to learn about latest trends and directly question leaders in the field.
Accommodation has been organised on the island of Langeness off the coast of Germany, and the intention is to use the local rural reality as a springboard for informing the programme.
